Blubb is a tiny pixel-art aquarium that lives in a rectangular Apple Watch complication. You compose it on iPhone and look after it on the Watch.
Get started
- Open Blubb on your Apple Watch once: a goldfish and a school of neons are waiting.
- Touch and hold the watch face, tap Edit, swipe to Complications, choose a rectangular slot (for example on Modular, Modular Duo or in the Smart Stack) and select “Blubb · Your Tank”.
- On iPhone tap “Compose the tank” to choose up to five fish, their colors and the centerpiece, then “Send to Watch”. Open the Watch app to receive it.
Caring for it
- Food goes down over time; hungry fish gulp at the surface. Tap “Feed”.
- Water slowly gets dirty: first algae on the glass, then murky water. Tap “Clean”.
- “Feeding time”: turn the Digital Crown, or tap left and right, to put the fish under the falling flakes.
- Care given when it is needed raises the tank’s level and unlocks new species and decorations.
- Twice a day a visitor drops by: “Let’s look together”. Holidays and the tank’s birthday bring decorations.
- If you are away, they wait for you: fish never get sick or die.
If something looks wrong
- The complication says “Open Blubb on your Watch”: open the app on the Watch once.
- The animation stops: watchOS shows a still frame while the wrist is down or Reduce Motion is on.
- A tank composed on iPhone does not arrive: open Blubb on the Watch with the iPhone nearby.
- On a tinted face the fish change color: this happens on watchOS 10; from watchOS 11 they keep their colors.
Settings
On the Watch, Settings › Frames; on iPhone, “Smoothness on the watch face”: 1, 2 or 4 frames per second. More frames are smoother and use more battery.
Compatibility
Requires Apple Watch with watchOS 10 or later and iPhone with iOS 17 or later. Blubb adds a complication to existing faces; it is not a watch face. The interface is in English, Italian, German, Spanish, French and Simplified Chinese.
