Widgey is a tiny pixel-art pet that lives in a rectangular Apple Watch complication. You pick it on iPhone and care for it on the Watch.
Get started
- Open Widgey on your Apple Watch once: your friend is already waiting.
- On iPhone tap “Incontra il tuo prossimo amico” (Meet your next friend), then “Portalo sul Watch” (Send it to the Watch). Open the Watch app to receive it.
- Touch and hold the watch face, tap Edit, swipe to Complications, choose a rectangular slot (for example on Modular, Modular Duo or in the Smart Stack) and select “Widgey · Il tuo pet”.
Caring for it
- Snacks: carrot, fish, apple or cookie. Each pet has a favorite; when it is hungry it dreams of it in a thought bubble.
- Play: “Acchiappa la palla” (catch the ball), tap the screen as the ball reaches your pet.
- Sleep and wake up, and read together.
- Care given when it is needed grows your friendship and unlocks a bow, a scarf, a cap and a crown in the wardrobe.
- Twice a day there is a small surprise to look at together. On holidays and on its birthday it dresses up.
- If you are away, it waits for you: it never dies and never loses what it has earned.
If something looks wrong
- The complication says “Apri Widgey sul Watch”: open the app on the Watch once.
- The animation stops: watchOS shows a still frame while the wrist is down or Reduce Motion is on.
- A name or pet chosen on iPhone does not arrive: open Widgey on the Watch with the iPhone nearby.
- The face still shows the old drawing after an update: remove and add the complication again.
Settings
On the Watch, Impostazioni › Fotogrammi; on iPhone, “Fluidità sul quadrante”: 1, 2 or 4 frames per second. More frames are smoother and use more battery.
Compatibility
Requires Apple Watch with watchOS 10 or later and iPhone with iOS 17 or later. Widgey adds a complication to existing faces; it is not a watch face. The interface is in Italian.
